Thank you for downloading our app! We hope your family will enjoy exploring nature together with Plum!
— The PLUM LANDING Team
This app is designed to help you and your kids explore the world outdoors. It also helps your family think about – and talk about – the science that's all around. We hope you'll use the app whenever you get outside with your kids.
This app is part of PLUM LANDING, a PBS KIDS project that helps kids develop a love for this amazing and beautiful planet we call home. At the heart of the project is Plum, an alien from desolate Planet Blorb, who longs to experience the natural world. In this app, she sends you and your family on missions outdoors to photograph, count, find, and talk about the awesome things you can find in nature – like bugs, plants, shadows, and clouds. The app has been designed for folks who live anywhere, even in big cities. Nature is all around – you just have to look!
Some of the missions can be completed in any neighborhood, but some may need a special trip to a park or a zoo. We hope you'll try to do those harder missions too!
PLUM LANDING is made by WGBH, producers of award-winning kids programs like Arthur, Curious George, and Martha Speaks. As with all of our kids programs, we've worked closely with families and advisors to develop this app. We hope you and your family enjoy completing Plum's missions together.

Every day that you open the app, you'll see five missions – including two new ones – from Plum. For example, she may ask you to take photos of clouds, or find plants growing in usual places. You can start any of these five missions – or choose another one from the All Missions menu. Plum will also remind you about missions you may have already started.
If you get stuck, just hit the back or home buttons.
These missions ask you to take five pictures, sometimes over five different days. When you take a photo you will be asked to save it or retake it. Retaking it will delete it, and saving it will place it in a folder on your device's camera roll.
These missions ask you to count how many of certain things you can find. Use the counter button to keep track of your total.
These missions provide you with a scavenger hunt checklist of things to find. Just check off the ones you can find until you're all done!
As you use the app and proceed through the missions, you'll be awarded a series of animal badges. All of these animals appear in our PLUM LANDING animated videos.
Along the way you'll be able to go back to "In Progress" Missions (ones you've started but not finished) and you'll get closer to the next achievement badge by completing missions (by clicking the button to let the app know you're all done.)
